FINAL FANTASY VII Discussion

I've finally got to play this game thanks to my PS3 and that wonderful deal known as PSOne Classics. So far I find it very entertaining, with an interesting story which emcompasses both an epic world and intimate realtionships between the main characters, especially Cloud and Sephrioth. The battle system, which is pretty basic FF ATB, is still loads of fun and the Materia System is just awesome. Only issues so far I have are the pre-rendered graphics, shoddy translation, and pointless quicktime events. I can forgive the first two, though, since it's an early PS game. Quicktime events, not so much, though the motorcycle game was cool.

Your opinions, Stompers, are the ones that I care about the most, though. I of course can find any number of commentaries on this game, but I like you guys better. So tell me what you think about it.

And for Jenova's sake, use spoilers, please, if you need to.

I have it on my PSP. I just need to play it. D:

My friend found a copy of the original PS1 version in his basement. (yeah, I know right?)
I'd like to borrow it from him when his done with it.

I want to pick it up off the PSN Store before I leave and I was going to get a points card today but all the stores around my house are sold out of the $20 cards and I thought $50 was a bit much. Although I may cave in and just get the $50 card if I can't find the $20 one by the end of the week.

I find it seriously overrated.

The story is a major improvement vs the 2D games definitely but I felt like it wasn't as great as people claim it to be.

The one thing I regret though is selling it like 3 years ago when I bought it for £13 and now it goes for £70!

*I bought it because I loved FFX and I really wanted IX but I could only find this....and I somehow knew it was going to be one of those sought after games too...so unlucky me.

@Starlight: yeah it definitely is overrated but I don't think it's a bad game. It certainly is one of the better Final Fantasies, in my opinion. Man, I didn't end up getting that points card so I hope my brother can bring me one.
