Final Fantasy XIII

I just won a used copy on eBay for around $37 and plan to start it April 30th, AKA the day my first year of college wraps up.
I hope to beat almost all my other Now Playing games so I can just play XIII all night long.

I spoiled the whole thing for myself by watching most of the playthrough on YouTube. I'm still planing on picking it up, but I'm waiting for a price drop first (I think the only FFs I bought at full price were V for GBA, III & IV for DS, and FFTA2. The last two: IV and TA2, were only bought at full price because I was working at the time and I have money to spend xD ).

edit: by working, I mean, full time job. xD

i've only heard negative reviews about XIII... one of which even said that it was the last JRPG he'll be playing for a long time.

I was really unimpressed when I picked it up at midnight on 3/9/10.

So much that I put it down for a whole month for a game that I had beaten over and over again. (Mass Effect 2)

Now that I have gone back to it, I can't put it down. I love it. I'm on chapter 7 out of... who knows? xD

If you like Final Fantasy, or JRPGs, you need to at least rent it. :3

No Final fantasy is worse then XII.

I actually kiiinda enjoyed XII. -gets shot-

It was kinda broken, but fun haha.

yeah me too, which is why I watched a playthrough just to see how bad it really was. Some of what the reviews said was right on the dot (i.e. no towns really does suck), other times I thought they were exaggerating (i.e. story being boring).

All in all, I say it's definitely not the best/ really good RPG, and the direction of the story went the wrong way and they really missed creating a darker and more interesting story, but I still thought it looked like a lot of fun and the character's stories make up for a few hiccups in the main story. So basically I'm holding off now for a price drop because 50 is too much for it IMO, but around 30 is the price I'm willing to pay.

I played through it. It's fun enough. It was extremely linear for the most part. I beat it but was intending to beat all the missions at some point. :[ Got bored, because I bought SoulSilver.

So far, I'm on chapter 9, and its sucked me in. I can't pull myself from FF XIII.

Even Hope has grown on me e_e

Seriously, what's the deal with FFXIII? I've tried it, it's nothing like IV or IX. I didn't like it, I thought it was average.

Anyway, I'll post my thoughts on it once I get a chance to sit down and invest a good chunk of time into it.

No. Absolutely no. At least those games has their charm.

Well I can't speak for or against that, having only played a little of IV and none of IX.

My favorite is X, followed by FFI (GBA.)
I disliked XII though.

I just want VI to come out on VC and I'm all set.

I still would like to give this game a try.

I won't criticize a game till I've played.

thank you donth, VI is the best FF. It has the best music of all FFs (probably only rivaled by this one), an unusual villain, a varied group of heroes, a revolutionary story direction for its time

I like FFIV as well, but I thought FFIV really out shined it in many ways....just my opinion. (Yes I'm a total FFVI fangirl )

@Soar: I'm really liking them all so far. I can see what you mean about Lightning, but I actually think the older voice fits her character. :3

I still need to complete Chapter 9.

The syndrome is getting better though :3
