Panasonic to Release "Jungle"

I can see it, but I kinda don't see it. Panasonic seems to have the money (which seems to be a requirement for the console-making market, now). Sanyo, not even a year ago, became a subsidiary of Panasonic. Plus, they manufactured the 3DO... which was a complete flop. But anyway, you be the judge!

I'm not sure they're going to get a terribly huge amount of sales considering the somewhat limited market they're aiming at. Sure, a lot of people like their MMOs but I'm highly doubting half of them will get their hands on some unknown system in spite of what their peers may say about its (potentially, heh) high quality. It is an interesting idea though, I just wish there was some actual footage to see.

EDIT: Assuming the handheld is based completely around MMOs, which is what I've read from a few places. I can't recall exactly though...so yeah.

Handheld market is pretty dangerous. EIther you're a phone-like device and you lose to Droid and iPhone or youre a handheld gaming device losing to whatever Nintendo has out at the time. (Seriously, no one has ever competed seriously with the GB brand. Both Wonderswan and PSP, plus others, were much stronger/"better" and still got dominated in sales and titles.)

I honestly can't imagine this being very successful.

After my initial shock, I'd say Admin and Terra summarized basically all I want to say on this topic. Well either way, I'm curious how much support this shall get from 3rd parties and with what kind of games.

That about sums up my thoughts, too. Honestly, I think the gaming market will remain to be dominated by the trio-cartel.
