As a lot of you may know, Activision have run into some troubles revolving around Infinity Ward, to the point where it's gotten so bad that of their employees have defected and Infinity Ward may now end up closing down. However, the gap left by them may have now been filled, as they've announced a publishing contract with Bungie, most famous for being the developers of the incredibly successful Halo Franchise for the Xbox and Xbox 360. Bungie, although splitting from Microsoft back in 2007, have been currently working on Halo Reach for the Xbox 360, which they've confirmed will be their last Halo game, although the series will continue.

However, it also appears that they've been working on other projects as well, with Activision stating that the contract deal will give them exclusive worldwide rights to bring "Bungie's next big action game universe to market”. Right now, there are very few details regarding this game. But what is known is that the game will be multiplatform, with Activision's publishing deal allowing them to distribute games for Bungie's new franchise across "multiple platforms and devices”. However, Bungie will have full ownership over the rights to their new franchise, and will remain an independent studio. It is not completely known however, whether the deal applies to just this new game or every Bungie game made after Halo Reach.

Regarding the deal, Activision COO Thomas Tippi has said “Bungie is one of the premier studios in our industry and we are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to work with their talented team over the next decade.". Microsoft has released this statement regarding the deal “Our partnership with Bungie as a first-party developer for Xbox 360 remains unchanged, and right now we're deeply engaged with them on the development of Halo: Reach, which is poised to be the biggest game of 2010."

With Bungie departing from the Halo franchise, I don't know what to think about it anymore. Microsoft will obviously beat it to death, but will M$ make a Halo 4? Maybe after the Legendary Ending of Halo 3?

I still want a Halo Wars 2 but eh.

We'll just have to see how Reach is. I can't wait until its out to find any loopholes in the storyline. (I read the books and know a lot about the canon)
