Anyone do this?
So I just got MGS4 and installed it. But I'm not letting myself play it until I finish MGS3 and start and beat MGS1.
Anyone else do anything like this before?

I'll do it if the story warrants it. Normally, I do research on that kind of thing before I buy video games. If I see a really good deal on something I've heard is good, I'll bend the rules to pick it up before seeing where it fits into a series; however, most of the games I've played are fun regardless of the order they go.

Re: Anyone do this?
I like to beat games in chronological order.
But sometimes I just buy what most people consider is the best in the series. I beat that game and if I liked it, I buy the other games in the series.

SO I recently beat MGS3 (yay) and then they announce what looks to be an amazing remake for the 3DS. Dangit...
Now I just gotta beat MGS (which I started yesterday) and then I can play MGS4...

Re: Anyone do this?
Ya I know right? But it's not guaranteed that the 3DS remake will be better than the original Snake Eater.
MGS3 will be hard to beat.
So how did you like MGS3? Did the ending make you cry?
I did. Manly tears
Good luck with MGS1.

Re: Anyone do this?
I will confess that MGS3 had a great emtional ending but it didn't make me cry.
A certain scene in MGS2 did. T.T
And I'm liking MGS but I doubt it'll do anything of the sort. MGS4 might, guess we'll see in a week or so.

A certain scene in MGS2?
SPOILERS
Are you talking about Emma's death and Otacon breaks down or the part where Snake and Otacon does the secret handshake and hugs each other? I thought the latter was pretty sad but awesome at the same time.

It's good that you're playing them in order. MGS4 will make much more sense when you get to it.

Re: Anyone do this?
I usually don't do that, but lately I've been wanting to do more series marathon in chronological order. So I want to play most of the FFs in order now (only finished 3 atm) and Kingdom Hearts. I'm thinking of doing that with DQ as well, but we shall see. I'm really tempted to start playing IX the day it is released. xD
Re: Anyone do this?
I never understood the FF marathons. All those games seem so unlike to warrant playing them consecutively or in any order. lol. I'm probably just in denial. I think half of my unfinished games are probably Final Fantasy-related. D: I couldn't imagine forcing myself to play them in any order now that I own them.

That's actually why I plan on doing it. I've only finished 3 even though I've played all of them (to varying degrees) except 9, 11, & 13. Whenever I do a marathon, it motivates me too continue with the game, and even if I make slow progress I still continue with it. Without the marathon, I tend to drop games here and there and Final Fantasies, in particular, tend to get dropped (either because I get a new game, or I don't want it to end).
Re: Anyone do this?
I do this all the time, and it's preventing me from getting new games like the DS Golden Sun until I can pick up the old ones. It's alright if the stories are seperate with vague references, but even then I want the full experience.
