New Details emerge around Dragon Quest Monsters: Battle Road Victory
The Dragon Quest series seems to have made itself a new home on Nintendo consoles over the last few years, with Square-Enix releasing games at a similar rate to their Final Fantasy series. On the DS, we’ve seen remakes for DQIV, DQV and DQVI, a brand new game in DQIX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies, as well as a bunch of spin-offs with Rocket Slime, Joker, Wars and the Upcoming Joker 2. On the Wii front, we’ve seen the Swords spin-off and the upcoming and highly anticipated DQX.
As some of you may know by now, not long ago Square-Enix announced that a Dragon Quest arcade game, Monster Battle Road, was announced for the Wii. Released only in Japan in 2007, the gameplay revolved around trading cards and was quite popular, with a sequel announced last year. Due to its success, Square-Enix have decided to bring the game to the Wii for this summer. Now though, some interesting new details have emerged around the game, most notably the controller.
The Controller has been designed by Hori, and features an exact replica of the arcade machine’s layout. However, like a lot of these special controllers, this will hit your pocket hard as it will go on sale (In Japan anyway) for roughly $137. Unfortunately, at the time, Square-Enix has not revealed if the game will be released outside Japan, but if it does, the controller alone should make for some interesting gaming.
